They not only offer us the pleasure of learning from Shakespeare's writings, but they can also prove to be invaluable resources when one is attempting to figure out what type of career one wants to pursue. Being able to compare and contrast the various stories and characters in a play can be beneficial when one is taking a test to determine which college to attend. An essay can also help the student prepare for one's future. King Lear was written around 1594, during the period of the Renaissance. King Lear is essentially a tragedy, and a lesson about moral issues. This drama has two elements, two distinct scenes that were so closely connected that they were two separate acts with two separate actors. There are several scenes in King Lear, and each scene is best viewed as a parallel. In the first scene, 'the prize,' we see a tragedy about an incompetent, incompetent king who is being forced into a situation that is beyond his abilities. This king is none other than King Lear. He and two of his counselors, the 'Merry Men,' (his two elder sons) want to be the next king, but he has a problem, and he only has one option for this. The 'Prize' (which, of course, has been stolen) lies at the end of the river, and if he can find it he will get the throne. The plot twists constantly until the final scene. In the second scene, 'the temptation,' we see two tragic characters, the coward Othello and the coward Iago. Here the 'Temptation' is a major act of seduction and murder of one of the 'Merry Men,' both Othello and Iago have been set up. While one may think this scene is almost a comedy, it's actually a true story. Essays on these types of plays can be a valuable way to compare and contrast the three main characters of King Lear. It also provides an excellent opportunity to analyze how characters were played and their reactions to the situations they were placed in. They can also serve as examples of how to handle a similar situation in life. As with any essay topics, careful reading is required to prepare for this project. A student must understand the parts of the drama and know how each plays a part in the overall story. If a student is able to successfully complete a project of this nature, the experience may well become a source of inspiration for them.
